Question and Answer

Apologetics - What is it and why should I care?

HS: This week the high school students will be confronted with the real to life consideration of having to look at Apologetics (the defense of one's beliefs).  Tonight we will learn how to tell our story and learn the importance of being able to defend our faith.  We will simulate a situation where students will practice telling their story and then encounter "Pat the Pagan" where they will be asked questions that opponents of Christianity will be asking, and we will finish the evening with an affirmation that we have many solid good reasons to believe in Christ and scripture.  We will be setting the stage for the rest of the semester where we will spend each Wednesday night looking at different reasons why we can believe and be confident in our faith.
scripture: 1 Peter 3:15 in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect…

JH:  Brenda will be leading a 'getting to know each other' discussion with an intro into the subject of Christ centered relationships, which will be the over arching theme for the JH this semester.

Main:  The focus of the studies for the younger children through 6th grade will be learning about and discussing God's Promises to David.

Sunday morning:  Continuing through Genesis.  We are currently in chapter 12 and will be looking at Abram and Sarai in Egypt.

Sunday night:  We will take a break from Hebrews to party.  It's the Superbowl and we'll be doing a devo during the half time show.

Monday morning:  Devon Kelly will be leading bible study this next Monday as we continue our time in James 4, what does it really mean to resist the devil and he will flee from you?
